Being there

A series of three 2-hour performances
Kaffistofa, Reykjavík
2011

I will be there

The visitors could communicate with me through the little holes in the door.

I won’t be there

The visitors could take a drink, while I was looking at the wall in front of me.

I will be there

I was looking at the chair in front of me or, if a visitor would take place in the chair, I would look at the visitor.

It has to be …

Through a megaphone we screamed the following sentences
(repetitive, in random order and with a break of 5-10 minutes between each line):
It has to be big!
It has to be interesting!
It has to be everywhere!
It has to be all the time!
It has to be noticed!
It has to be forgotten!
It has to be remembered!

Clapping for art

We looked at every work in the exhibition.
After watching a work, we applauded.
Depending on our critique and following the rules of clapping,
we applauded louder or softer, longer or shorter.

I am here / I am not here

My studio is emptied
I am looking up
in front of me a note, saying “I am not here”
